Manganese Based Perovskites in Soot Oxidation: Far from Noble Metals?

Abstract Mn-based catalysts for soot oxidation have been developed without noble metals. The compositions are LaMn 0.9 Co 0.1 O 3 , La K Mn (LKMC), Sr and K/La : provides stability to the structure both in oxidizing reducing atmospheres efficiently exchanges oxygen. Moreover, doping enhances oxidation. Adding or as A-site cation perovskite composition allows comparing behaviors of so-obtained perovskites, was chosen increase catalytic activity NO x removal. After wet synthesis, were tested presence oxygen nitrogen monoxide overstoichiometric content. Temperature Programmed Oxidation tests performed double increases oxidative activity: LKMC shows lowest conversion temperature (306 °C, tight contact with catalyst). results worse performances, due formation SrCO . incorporation helps vacancies formation, beneficial activity, through Mars-van Krevelen mechanism.
